Effective: April 2026 (Version 2026)

Company: One Touch Auto Detailing Limited (OTAD)

Address: 36/18 Lambie Drive, Manukau City Centre 2104, Auckland, New Zealand

By booking or using any of our services, you agree to these Terms & Conditions in full. These terms apply to all services, including detailing, paint correction, paint protection film (PPF), ceramic/graphene coatings, glass coatings, wheel coatings, plastic trim coatings, window tinting, headlight restoration, interior restoration, and all related cosmetic vehicle services.

1. Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA) - Nothing in these terms excludes, restricts, or modifies any rights you have under the Consumer Guarantees Act 1993 (CGA) where it applies. Our services will be carried out with reasonable care and skill, be fit for the agreed purpose, completed within a reasonable time, and charged at a reasonable price (where no price has been quoted in advance). Remedies for any breach are as provided under the Act.

Where a concern is raised, OTAD must be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect the vehicle in person before any remedy, refund, or external escalation is considered. Inspection is a mandatory step in determining any alleged fault or service issue.

2. Inspection & Dispute Resolution - If any concern, complaint, or alleged issue is raised:

  • The vehicle must be made available for in person inspection at OTAD premises or an agreed location, if the vehicle was attended via our mobile service.

  • OTAD will assess condition, process suitability, materials used, and environmental influences.

  • Determination of fault or remedy will only be made after inspection.

Refusal, delay, or failure to provide access for inspection means the concern cannot be verified, no liability can be accepted, and no refund, chargeback, or remedy obligation arises. All disputes are assessed strictly on physical inspection, objective evidence, and industry standard performance expectations (not personal opinion or assumptions).

3. Acceptance of Work - Upon completion or collection, the customer is deemed to have accepted the work unless concerns are raised within 24 hours. After 24 hours, exposure to weather, driving, contamination, cleaning, or third party interaction is assumed, and OTAD cannot be held responsible for changes occurring after collection.

4. Credentials & Service Standards - OTAD is insured with Vero Insurance New Zealand Limited, a member of Certified Professional Detailers, and recognised by the International Detailing Association (IDA), with our director, DJ, serving as Vice President of the IDA NZ Sector. We use professional grade tools, techniques, and approved products.

5. Pre Existing Conditions & Limitations - Vehicles commonly contain pre existing defects, including scratches, swirl marks, rock chips, oxidation, etching, fading, staining, thin/soft clear coat, prior repairs/repaints, interior wear, or material degradation. These may become more visible after cleaning, decontamination, polishing, touching up or coating application. Modern factory clear coats are often thinner and softer, making them more susceptible to marring, or where poor pre exisiting fixes have been performed, there may be a variation between outcomes.

OTAD inspects the vehicle before work begins and will advise you of any obvious concerns. OTAD is not liable for revealing, highlighting, or worsening pre existing defects unless directly caused by our failure to exercise reasonable care and skill. We are not liable for paint failure or other issues arising from pre existing conditions when reasonable care is used.

6. Service Methodology, Process Variation & Surface Preparation - OTAD uses professional industry standard techniques and may adjust methods depending on vehicle condition, contamination level, surface sensitivity, material type, previous repairs/coatings, or environmental conditions. Method variation does not constitute a defect where the final result meets reasonable professional standards.

Customers acknowledge they are purchasing a professional result based service, not a fixed procedural method. Surface preparation (including degreasing, IPA wipe downs, claying, or chemical systems) is selected based on assessment. Use of specific methods does not constitute incomplete preparation where the surface is deemed suitable. Declining recommended preparation may impact results and longevity, or the client's budget to work within, as each service is tailored to the client's cost, needs and requirements.

7. Performance Expectations & Coating/Treatment Limitations (All Services) - Coatings and treatments improve protection, gloss, hydrophobicity, UV/contaminant resistance, and cleaning ease but:

  • Do not make surfaces scratch proof, chip proof, swirl proof, damage proof, stain proof, or tear proof.

  • Do not prevent all contamination, eliminate environmental spotting, or guarantee identical visual/water behaviour in all conditions.

  • Do not remove the need for ongoing maintenance.

Performance depends on driving conditions, environmental exposure, maintenance practices, and surface condition at application. Glass coatings improve visibility but water behaviour varies with speed, airflow, and weather. Wheel coatings reduce (but do not eliminate) brake dust. Plastic trim coatings improve appearance but cannot fully restore severely UV-damaged plastics. Interior protection coatings provide a hydrophobic barrier but are not immune to damage.

8. Paint Correction / Polishing Paint - correction/polishing removes a thin layer of clear coat. Compromised or previously repaired paint may lead to additional visible issues. Exact outcomes depend on the underlying paint condition.

9. Interior Cleaning & Protection Treatments - We use professional methods (steam, safe chemicals, extraction). Some stains, odours, or soiling may be permanent or only partially removable. Cleaning can reveal pre existing wear, cracking, or damage. Excess soil, heavy pet hair, or biohazards will be quoted separately on a labour basis (approval obtained before proceeding). We do not clean closed compartments (e.g., glovebox, console) unless requested.

Interior Protection Coatings (optional): Provide a hydrophobic barrier. Not stain-proof or tear-proof. Curing: Avoid heavy use/moisture for 48 hours (initial); full performance ~5 days. Aftercare: Vacuum regularly, wipe spills immediately with pH-neutral cleaner. Avoid harsh chemicals, abrasives, steam, or unsuitable conditioners. Warranty: 2-year limited warranty (covers loss of repellency under normal use and proper care). Current registered owner only (non-transferable). Requires yearly inspection ($149 incl. GST, condition dependent). Client must book (no reminders). Missed inspections, improper care, or misuse voids the warranty. Reduced performance expected on alcantara/suede/heavily worn surfaces.

10. Exterior Ceramic / Graphene / Glass / Wheel / Plastic Trim Coatings - These enhance gloss, hydrophobicity, UV, and contaminant resistance but do not make surfaces scratch proof or immune to all damage. Curing: Remain dry/sheltered for 24 hours initially; no washing/harsh chemicals for 5 days. Full cure 5–10 days. Aftercare: Hand wash only with pH neutral shampoo and microfibre. Avoid automatic (touch or touchless) washes. Remove bird droppings, sap, etc., promptly. Warranty: Glass, wheels & plastic trims – 1 year limited. Paintwork – OTAD formulated 3, 5, or 7 year options (covers hazing, cracking, or loss of hydrophobicity under normal use). Off road vehicles excluded. Current registered owner only (non transferable). Requires yearly Exterior Inspection Valet ($129 incl. GST). Client must book directly. Non compliance voids warranty.

11. Paint Protection Film (PPF) - PPF provides a physical barrier against rock chips, scratches, UV, and contaminants. Self-healing applies only to light surface marks. Protection is not absolute. We use in house precut software/plotter (hand-cut if model not listed). OTAD 75/85/95 series (gloss/satin/matte/hydrophobic) and coloured PPF offered.

Installation is performed on cleaned, decontaminated, and corrected surfaces (recommended). Pre-existing damage or poor prior repairs may cause visible edges, lifting, or adhesion issues. Panel design and condition may influence final appearance. Minor edge lift, adhesive settling, or visual lines during curing are normal and not defects unless persistent beyond the curing period.

Aftercare: Hand wash or light pressure wash only with pH neutral products. Avoid automatic washes near edges, abrasives, harsh chemicals, or gasoline. Remove contaminants promptly. Warranty: 10 year maximum on OTAD series (covers yellowing, cracking, peeling, blistering, delamination under normal use). Current registered owner only (non transferable). Off road excluded. Requires yearly inspection ($TBA, condition based). Client must book. Excludes accidents, impacts, vandalism, improper care, or non certified removal. Contact us immediately after any accident. Any concerns must be supported by in person inspection.

12. Window Tinting - Reduces heat, glare, and UV while enhancing privacy. Must comply with NZTA regulations (minimum 70% VLT front windscreen; 35% VLT front side windows – overall visible light transmittance of glass + film). Darker than legal tinting is at your risk — we are not responsible for WOF failures or enforcement.

Curing: Allow 7 days, avoid rolling windows or cleaning. Aftercare: Ammonia free cleaners and soft cloths only initially. Warranty: Lifetime or 10-year (manufacturer-dependent) for heavy bubbling, peeling, cracking, discolouration, or adhesive failure under normal use. Current registered owner only (non-transferable).

13. Headlight Restoration Longevity = Not guaranteed (average 1-2 years depending on UV exposure and garaging). No warranty against future yellowing, hazing, or cracking.

14. Additional Work & Extra Charges - Only quoted services will be performed unless agreed in writing. Additional charges apply for heavy soiling, pet hair, biohazards, rubbish, or unforeseen extra work/required preparation ($POA). Approval will be obtained before proceeding. Quoted prices may increase for additional preparation or work — you will be advised and must approve. Declining recommended preparation may impact results.

15. Booking, Deposits, Cancellation & Rescheduling Deposits - Typically $150 incl. GST or a percentage of the quote. Credited to final invoice but non refundable and non transferable (including change of mind). Cancellation/Rescheduling: At least 48 hours’ notice required. Less than 48 hours or no-show: minimum $150 incl. GST or full quoted price charged. More than two reschedules may require an additional non-refundable deposit. Confirmation: No reply within 12 hours of our final request → booking cancelled and deposit retained. Mobile Weather Policy: We may postpone unsuitable weather (no fee, deposit remains valid). If you insist on proceeding, a fully sheltered area is required. We are not liable for issues arising from proceeding in poor conditions. Post-Commencement Cancellation: Charges apply for work completed and materials used. Mobile Service Requirements: You must provide 240V power and an external water tap. Failure may result in cancellation with full cancellation fee. We are not liable for damage to driveways, lawns, or property.

16. Workshop Drop-Off & Collection (36/18 Lambie Drive, Manukau) - Arrive at the exact agreed time. Late drop-off/collection incurs $50/day storage (incl. GST). Vehicle must be drivable, with sufficient fuel, working battery, and all keys provided. Client Responsibilities: Remove all personal items, valuables, cash, toll tags, garage openers, etc. OTAD accepts zero responsibility for items left in the vehicle. Vehicles stored at owner’s risk (except for our negligence). We are not liable for theft, damage from fire, flood, storm, earthquake, pre-existing issues, or third-party actions (except negligence). Vehicle released only after full payment. Uncollected after 14 days = abandoned; ongoing storage fees apply, and we may dispose of the vehicle under the Contract and Commercial Law Act 2017.

Health & Safety: Customers must remain in the designated office/reception area at all times with the door closed. Workshop access is restricted to staff only unless authorised and accompanied. No children or pets in work zones. Interference with work or unsafe behaviour may result in the service being paused or terminated. We may refuse or pause service if safety is compromised.

17. Photography, Video Recording & Workplace Access Control - OTAD operates as a private commercial workshop. To protect staff safety, customer privacy, and operational integrity: No photography, video recording, or audio recording is permitted on the premises without prior approval from OTAD management. This includes staff working areas, workshop floors, and any active service zones. Customers must request permission before taking any photos or videos while on site.

OTAD may approve or decline recording at its discretion, set conditions, or require recordings to cease. Unauthorised recording may result in immediate request to delete material, suspension or termination of service, or refusal of future bookings. This ensures health & safety compliance, staff protection, protection of intellectual property/processes, and privacy of other vehicles/customers.

OTAD may take before/after photos and videos for records, quality control, insurance/dispute evidence, and marketing (number plates blurred/obscured on request). You may object to marketing use in writing. Personal information is handled in accordance with the Privacy Act 2020.

18. Payment Terms - Full payment is due on completion unless otherwise agreed in writing. The vehicle may be retained until paid in full. Prices include GST. Additional work is quoted and approved separately. Accepted: EFTPOS, bank transfer, cash, credit card (3% surcharge), Afterpay (5% surcharge). Late payment: 3% per day. Unpaid accounts sent to debt collection — you pay all recovery costs.

19. Warranties – General Conditions & Claims - All warranties (specific durations detailed per service above) are conditional on:

  • Normal use and proper aftercare (hand wash only with pH neutral products; no unapproved automatic washes; remove contaminants promptly within 48 hours, etc.).

  • Required annual inspections (client must book and pay; no reminders sent). Missing an inspection voids the warranty.

  • Current registered owner only (non transferable). Off road use is excluded.

Notify any issues in writing within 24 hours. We will inspect; valid claims result in free repair/reapplication of affected areas only (to the original service cost proportion). Not covered: Accidents, impacts, vandalism, negligence, improper care, environmental damage left uncleaned, pre existing conditions, or physical damage.

20. Liability Limitation & Insurance - OTAD is covered under Vero Insurance New Zealand Limited. To the maximum extent permitted by law, OTAD’s total liability is limited to the value of the services provided under this agreement. OTAD is not liable for indirect, consequential, or special losses (e.g., loss of use, profits, downtime, or other economic loss).

21. Changes to Terms - We may update these terms at any time. The latest version is always available on our websites. Continued use of services after changes constitutes acceptance.

22. Governing Law - These terms are governed by New Zealand law. Disputes will be resolved under the CGA where applicable, or referred to Consumer NZ, the Disputes Tribunal, or New Zealand courts.
